For many years I thought the roots of Prajapatio was only in Gujarat. With the advent of this web site three years ago knowledge started to flow in about Prajapatio. I started getting the knowledge that Prajapatio have roots in many states in Gujarat though their root trade of being kumbhar is a common among along Prajaptio. Through this web site I am also getting a picture that formal knowledge base among Prajapatio is comparatively low in relation to the skills potential Prajapatio have shown all over the world. As we read we find Prajapatio as very skilled builders, carpenters, skilled workers in practically all modern industries and to an extent traders. But then again inherent skill potential takes you only so far as my father used to say. He send me to university to get a degree in civil engineering. My father alos got me a job in the construction industry he had worked all his life. A year after my graduation I became boss of my own father on a very large construction project. At that time he made me realize the need and benefit of a formal education. He said to me " I know a lot more about construction than you do but you are my boss. That is true. But then I do not know how to think to create through structured scientific knowledge and methods. I cannot read properly. I cannot talk properly. I cannot see far enough. I cannot philosophise arugements. I cannot do a lot of things I see you doing although you have been in construction industry for only one year. I encouraged you to go to university to become civil engineer only becuase you would be able to do all the things I cannot by getting formal knowledge in a short period of five years. And see the upside he continued. I walk or ride a bicycle or use public transport to go to work. You have got a new company car. I live in a small flat. You have a big company house. And you have started earning three times I am earning now........"
